I think you all need to relax! People will always have cats as pets...right? We accomodate the cats and supply them with food, a home, love and friendship....right? Well, if I decide to declaw my cat, I do not think it is a selfish act. I work hard to have a nice home, provide my cat with toys and the best food(which is expensive). I do not live for my cat....he is not taking over my home and tearing it up. He is a big part of my life, but I do work, so I can not keep my eye on him 100% of the time. If you want to let your cat rule your domain and tear it up, fine! But, do not come down on others because they have a different standard of living. I do not think people get their cats declawed for no reason at all. If I was selfish, I would just get rid of him....so think before you express your opinion.
